  • The artwork makes Jack Chick looks like SHIT!

  • @Se7enBeatleofDoom ...thanks for that backhanded praise...but of course in any field where artistic creation is involved (re: comics, painting, music, film-making etc...) one man's treasure may be another man's garbage. And if the Eye Witness series can have even a fraction of the impact that Chick tracks have had, we'd be thrilled!

  • Christian comic like precher?

  • I assume you mean "Preacher" by DC/Vertigo? Generally speaking Christian based comics contain a story or underlying foundation which shares or promotes the Gospels and tenents of the faith. Now granted it's been about a decade since I read any Preacher so I can't comment definitively if it meets that definition (outside of it's graphic and brutality of course). In other words, just because a fictional work has a preacher, or minister or nun in it, doesn't make the story Christian.

  • Jack Chick already tried this.

  • Yes, Jack Chick did indeed (and does still) create traks and comics that involve and comment on Christianity and organized religion...but does that neccessary preclude anyone else from playing with the theme within the format? Of course not...that would be like saying, you couldn't create a comic about someone with super-human powers, because Simon and Shuster had already tried that, or couldn't create a substanial horror novel, 'cause Steven King's already done it.

    You get the point!

  • Christian based comics and graphic novels have, until recently, operated below the radar of the marketplace and even most Christians. True, there are a number of wonderful creations that have not achieved any type of wide distribution or recognition...including Millar's work. We didn't create the genre, we are just trying to help push it into the limelight of public interest.

  • What about Mark Millar's "Chosen?"
