With the help of a friend, I took many of the clips I found on YouTube to create a clip portraying the anger projected towards the Muslim Community Center several blocks away from the Ground Zero Site. I used this clip for a class project to show how the media has divided our nation by heightening confusion about Islam in America. This project was organized as a response to what I believe is an increase in anger and hate caused by the media and newspapers. The media continues to call this the "Ground Zero Mosque" because it has a really catchy title to it, and it also portrays a powerful image in the minds of many Americans. Specifically, an image of a mosque at Ground Zero. Americans need to understand that this project will not be at the Ground Zero site and it will not be a mosque; rather it will be a community center including an area of worship on the top floors of the building. However, I hope this center will be an establishment for all religions and not just for Muslims. Furthermore, the terrorist represent an extreme segment of the Islamic faith. These terrorists, especially the ones on 9/11 do not represent the entire religion of Islam at all. I wish Americans would understand that these terrorists that call themselves Muslim, do not speak, act, or kill in behalf of all Muslims or the Islamic religion. Therefore, it is absurd to associate the 9/11 attacks with ALL Muslims.
