An unexpected call was being made as I turned my radio on today. It was W1AW calling CQ on 20 meters. The band was fairly quiet at about 2000 UTC, so I decided what the heck, because I was working QRP, he may not hear my call back. To my surprise Ron, the guest operator, said I was coming in from clear across the United States at a 594, and at some moments I jumped to a 597. Not bad for 5 watts output. That made my day. I'm looking very forward to the QSL card.
