TAQQIYYAH & KITMAN:

The Kharijites were the

"...third party in Islam, neither Shī'ī nor Sunnī. They found followers in South Arabia and among Arab tribes, but it was in North Africa among the Berber tribes these Muslim Puritans found their Scotland. From the first, they were people who could not compromise, and they soon split into quarrelling sects, which often felt called upon to "trade their lives for Paradise," in religious wars. The only one of these to survive into modern times is the most moderate, the Īḅadī sect, which can accept a situation of truce with other Muslims. Today they survive in the Sultanate of Oman and small enclaves in North Africa and on the East African coast. They prefer not to be called Khārijīs and live in the state of kitmān or concealment (i.e., they have no Imam to rule them now and take direction from their religious leaders). This is permissible in their sect unless the conditions are ripe for an Imamate, at which point kitmān is no longer acceptable."

John Alden Williams, The Word of Islam (University of Texas Press, 1994), p.173

"Ibadis differentiate between inward belief in God's oneness, outward declaration of this belief, and implementing this belief in practice. This is an outcome of their historical experience as an Islamic sect that witnessed moments when concealment of belief (kitman) was a key to survival in the face of persecution by enemies. In this respect, they are like the Shia, who developed the analogous doctrine of pious dissimulation (taqiyya)."

Juan Eduardo Campo, Encyclopedia of Islam (Infobase Publishing, 2009), p.323

"There was also flexibility with regard to the [Ibadi-Kharijte] community as a whole. Masâlik al-dîn, ways or stages of religion, referred to the four possible relationships between the Ibâḍîya and the rest of Islam and the world, which allowed it to exist under virtually any circumstances. These were: ʐuhûr, open manifestation of the imâmate; difâ', militarily defensive and restricted imâmate; shirâ', (literally "selling" oneself in God's cause) open opposition to tyranny; and kitmân, secrecy, lapse of the imâmate under impossible conditions.
Kitmân was derived from an analogy with the traditional biography of the Prophet, specifically the period between the first revelation and the acquisition of forty followers, during which time there were no regulatory revelations, and Muḩammad did not function as leader of a community because of rejection and persecution. Thus, under similar circumstances, there was no requirement to have an imâm and hiding one's true beliefs (taqîya) was allowed. The necessity for kitmân was not thought to be proof of God's displeasure or the community's error; rather, it allowed a period for renewal of strength and purpose."

Patricia Risso, Oman & Muscat: An Early Modern History (Routledge, 1986). p.26

"To survive, the Shia grew insular, often hiding their true faith through dissimulation (taqqiya), a practice that has a parallel in Judaism. The dönme community of Turkey descends from Iberian Jews who settled in the Ottoman empire and hid their identity behind Islamic practice. The sixth Shia imam made taqqiya obligatory for Shias to make sure the faith would survive."

  • Faved and going to put it in my top list. Still a fan of Ph, but gawd what a demonstration of dogma in a non-religious form. Conspiracy Theorist tag is spot on.

Im at the last bits with blue font on a black backround, its hard to read. I would probably be legible if I full screened it, but then Youtube would reload the whole damn thing. Gonna backit up with Youtube Dowloader.

    All the best mate.

I wonder if PH could prove he is not a Muslim practicing Taqiyya.

  • @kommissarw

Phil actually recended his views after watching this video and sent me an apology, especially when CEMBadmins backed me up :)

    He has intellectual integrity :)

  • @Klingschor True he withdrew it. But how did he wrong you? If he were to apologise, he needs to apologise to Muslims.

One reason why he has not done so, might be the tricky nature of looking like you are backing down from other criticisms of Islam.

My suggestion, in the apology, admit he was taken in & should have known better, showing his errors of logic to all. Basically debunk his own video.

  • @kommissarw

I'm not quite sure why he apologised - I also thought it was unwarranted :P

    1. I believe in accurate criticisms of Islam - if decrying invalid criticisms of Islam constitutes 'defending' Muslims, so be it.

    2. Phil is not generalizing? 19:06

    3. Exactly how does criticising a big user gain me subs? I get more rage and criticism from the fans of people like Thunderf00t and Phil than I do from Muslims. If I wanted subs, I'd be licking Condell's ass.

  • @ThePuppyTurtle Not that it was low before.

  • My respect for you is raised by this video.

  • @Klingschor

    That is impressive.

  • The instrumental sounds had me worried if you are a muslim or not; well my doubt was right. You turned out to be a Shia @ the author of this video. I do have to thank you for further definion of Al-Taqiya where it is a defensive strategy move but I will still need to investigate more thus we cannt take a word from a Sect who thinks taqiya is obligatory. I am sorry to say at the Shia but you have to come back to proper Islam. There is no such thing as human divinity as you claim the Imams are all

  • Thanks for this video. I belived this thing (thx to Phil) but later I concluded that it's nothing more than what any man would do in certain situations. And it was rather wierd for a while, I really thought that whenever a muslim speaks it's a lie. For a brief period of time I experienced the same mindset as conspiracy theorists. I later read about it on wikipedia and it turned out it has nothing to do with what I was told. Now that I watched your video everything is clear and consistent again.

  • @Klingschor - Wow. You people just cannot stop lying to save your lives.

  • @belieVERITAS Translation: You criticized people I like so you are wrong! WAAA!!!! By the way, an intellectually honest person doesn't hide behind "channel not available". I always check that so I know whether I'm dealing with a troll or not. By the way Phil is one of my favorite YouTubers and TF made one of the best series against theism on YouTube but I can accept that sometimes they are wrong. Clearly you can not...

  • Ah, now i get it. Been watching your @Klingschor videos and 1st impression was arrogance. When i watched more videos about some famous atheists, i know now that your "thing" to gain originalty is to pull criticsm even with "force". You arent interested to learn the stand of others and how they came in to conclusion. Evry time, you get even a small chance to misunderstand, you get aaaaagasm and you go for it. This is what i saw in your work and its not cool at all.

  • Phil Hellenes was making a huge error in confusing the lie of religion with the lies of people.
