Paul Marshall from www.bodojo.com trying to explain the basics of his approach to how the top end style is executed. Bo means bottom only as this is the only part of the stick to hit the drum

  • I used to play sambe kerry style (using back hand for the 4th beat. Would love to jam with someone playing this way.

  • how are you playing triplets if you dont use the top end of the tipper?

  • Nice little drum!

  • More! More!

  • Hi!

Many thanks! This was the only video I found that showed slowly how to beat the bodhran! Thanks again!

  • Thanks Paul, especially for demonstrating slowly for beginners like me..;-) I wrote a jig for the Hang drum called Hang jig so trying to learn Bodhran now.

  • Thanks for your comments, I'm playing a 12" Metloef 'popcorn' drum - metloef [dot] com. I have about 6 or more of his drums, all very individual, all excellent. This wee 12" 'popcorn' drum was his own personal drum with which he competed in the All Ireland and is still a favourite of mine for intimate sessions and recording - For more on this style visit bodojo and look for 'top end' - cheers - Paul
