She performed as a boy or man. Woman movement is more graceful. I think it's still the same now with this dance.

I don't know about the recording quality in 1960 a lot...but I could imagine, that's just the record, why it's so "speedy".
You know the very old and very speeded up films of Charlie Chaplin? I think it's like this..

whats "rour"

Our dance, just like anything went through some reforms. New king/queen ad a little when they rein. Our dance actually use to be similar to thai, which was ours to begin with. A little faster, and less graceful. Just like the french ballet...in the beginning they could only do two, at the most pirouettes (spins). But because of todays inovations i.e pointe slippers, they can do almost 4. Same with the leg lifting. Wasnt as important. But later, one master was particular of leg lift height. IMO

i am assuming they shortened the dance so it can be fitted into the movie thats within this dance.
Excellent video!

I don't understand why this is mark as spam? Anyways, "ruor" is a piece when the dancer come out by running a bit fast in line -example: "Khmer Classical Dance Neary Chea Chour" comparing to the usual "s'muer" piece. "S'muer" take a bit longer and have more movements involved. I hope that explains it. :)
