The Chillseekers - Them!

The Chillseekers perform their hit "Them!" in a rare TV appearance from 1965. If you know which program this is from, please drop me a line. The label on the box was only marked "Essential".

"Them!" was written by Mike during a rough time for The Chillseekers. They were growing tired of touring pizza parlors in the Midwest and felt they had little time to record their new songs in the studio. In many cases, the performances released to the public were only the first or second take of a song - essentially, a live performance.

"Them!" would prove to be a film that gave the band nightmares for weeks. During a show in Fort Wayne, Charles Foster Kane is supposed to have jumped from behind his drums and curl in a ball on the ground as if he were being attacked by giant ants. The rest of the band continued to play without him, not realizing they had lost the beat as his drums were rarely plugged in to start.
