@L3D0L3: The other 50%? Salt, maybe?

@LucaviAD: I remember reading about that couple; there was no reason for their murder, they didn't pose a threat to anyone. I also remember reading terrible accounts of headless torsos being found, and a head and hands being found near the Hollywood sign in Hollywood, CA. Lovely people, huh?

@2TailedKitsune88: You talk to the entire world when you get on a YouTube message board, so enough of that nonsense. If Mexico is so great, why do Mexicans keep running up here? Oh, that's right, to live off of our tax-based services - and the Mexican government gives them instructions on how to do this.

@2TailedKitsune88: This is the USA. We had Reagan's unqualified amnesty in 1986, if people come here they can LEARN ENGLISH. If they are citizens, they should have figured this out by now, since there are all sorts of freebie classes they can take for ESL. There are plenty of LATINO people who are bilingual; only selfish, self-centered individuals would demand that others conform to their language habits to "make things easier for them".

It's gotten worse & worse in recent years. Monterrey used to be considered a safer area to visit. Now the cartels are strong-arming businesses into paying them "protection money." Recently, a missionary couple was murdered in Mexico though they were harming no one & flying under the radar. They had been there for decades but wound up dead due to increasing violence.

@LucaviAD: Dayum, I'm glad I went to Cancun and Cozumel years ago when it wasn't so dangerous. Someone stole my sandals which I left under a chair when I was swimming in the hotel pool, but that was it.

Rape & sexual assault continue to be serious problems in Cancun & other resort areas. Many of these occur at night or during the early morning hours, in hotel rooms, or on deserted beaches. Acquaintance rape is a serious problem. Hotel workers, taxi drivers, & security personnel have been implicated in many cases.

Mexico’s warring drug cartels have long freelanced in criminal activities that range from smuggling migrants to assassinating public figures and extorting Christmas bonuses from school teachers. Their latest pursuit is even more audacious: taking on Petróleos Mexicanos, the state-owned oil company better known as Pemex.
