The platypus is among the most peculiar animals the world has ever seen. In this video, I describe how scientists are using that weirdness to learn more about us.

  • HAHAHAHA I've got it! Call Kent Hovind in his tax fraud jail cell and tell him we've found the crockoduck!

    XD

  • From Kent Hovind - Wikipedia

"Since November 2006 Hovind is serving a ten-year prison sentence in the Federal Correctional Institution, Edgefield in Edgefield, South Carolina, after being convicted of 58 federal counts, including twelve tax offenses, one count of obstructing federal agents and forty-five counts of structuring cash transactions."

  • @00GreyEyedGirl00: You're right, I beg your pardon. The word I should have used rather than mammal is eutherian. As explained here: tolweb(.)org/treehouses/?treehouse_id=4430 , what mammals do is lactate. Whether they do that through breasts or through skin pores is the next clade down.

  • @puncheex Monotremes are mammals.

  • @00GreyEyedGirl00: They aren't mammals, they're monotremes. They and the echidnas are all that is left of the branch, whiich is closely related to mammals and marsupials.

  • @LastChanceHere: All animals are in mid-evolution; they are almost always in transition going from one species to another. Certainly the platypus is in transition, and in a few million years we may see what it is, but that too will be changing...

  • @LastChanceHere All animals are ''in mid-evolution''. Platypus is a complete species. Read a Biology book.

  • Evolution of the platypus: psyduck into golduck :) there did it :P

  • perry!

  • pretty sure this guy has a platypus fetish XD but in all seriousness, this video and this guy are brilliant.

  • Well done :) Informative and easy to digest. You're certainly well read, and each point you make contains very poignant quotations and concise details about history. It's a shame about the kind of comments this video recieves haha :L A great contribution :)

  • @guineapiggyman Yes i know
