"Overall, at least seventeen non-Christian writings record more than fifty details concerning the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus, plus details concerning the earliest church. Most frequently reported is Jesus' death, mentioned by twelve sources. Dated approximately 20 to 150 years after Jesus' death, these secular sources are quite early by the standards of ancient historiography." -Dr. Gary Habermas

  • These pitiful sources are non-contemporary, and hearsay, they are not evidence. Explain why there is absolutely no evidence for the existence of Jesus prior to 55AD. He is a fabrication, and a poor one that only weak minds can't see through.

  • They also sang hymns to Zeus. So what? LOL What a crock.

  • Thallus.

  • no contemporary sources.

  • @MrHobiecat Total agreement, Hob.

  • @Matthew1944 I am not under ANY covenant with the ancient jewish goat farmers, their priests, or their imaginary god in the clouds.

When a god appears to me in person, and tells me what IT wants me to do, then we can talk.

Until that happens, the only intelligent thing to do is to base your life on your best understanding of the universe, and I dont see ANY gods wandering about anywhere.

  • @TheDarvus Yes, you do have me confused. What is your real position then?

  • @TheDarvus Chrestus was a common Greek name for "a free man", Darvus.

Re: Tacitus - It's interesting that the pages that covered the years Jesus would have taught - 29-33 AD are all missing from the manuscript.

Now supply some support from historians contemporary to Jesus time. . Philo (20BC-40AD), Pliny the elder (23AD-79AD), Seneca the elder (54BC-39AD), Seneca the younger (4BC-65AD) would be good. Got anything?

  • @MrHobiecat That's exactly right. Deuteronomy DOES HAVE NOTHING to do with you because you're under a NEW COVENANT, right? So why do Christians always quote from the OT which is edited in the first place and is a piece of work that has nothing to do with them? By the way, Deuteronomy (which Jesus said he did not "come to change"), states that you alone are responsible for your sins and no one but YOU can atone for them,.

  • @Matthew1944 so Deuteronomy has nothing to do with me. I dont have to atone for working on a saturday, or for failing to observe the jewish holidays, or anything else the jewish priests made up to call a 'sin' so their people would keep them in a steady supply of meat, grain and silver while attempting to 'atone' for their supposive crimes against their imaginary god.
