We have not got much playing spaces for the children of Ely so please leave what little we have alone. If building plans go ahead houses will be built surrouning what little will be left. Those new residents would shorly feel that the space left would belong to them, leaving the children of Ely with no where other than the streets to play, So come on cardiff city council see sense and chuck your stupid plans in the bin where they belong...

Its very sad, growing up in ely i have fond memories of the rec, my children use it alot & have had many hours of fun and has kept them off the streets. apart from the fact we love and want to save the fields, ely cannot really afford the extra people these houses will bring, altho my daughter was born in ely, her dentist is in rumney, cos all all our dentists, schools and doctors are bursting already! all the council ever do is take away from ely, they never give the community anything! julie

dnt take away our fields it may be just a plot of land to you buh to us it means a lot more.. im 18 and have always used them and still now. Played run outs wen i was yunger in the woods loved them cummin home pure muddy. The kids today aint gunna no nothing but strrets gangs and conflict, thats all this will bring. we dnt need ely gerrin worse... cummmon lynd and pete it cant be done .x.
how can the council take away our fields when ely doesnt need any more houses, there are plenty of empty houses anyway. what ely needs is for the council to start giving to the community apposed to taking away, why dont they build a new club/community hall, little car park & reinstate the football pitches, that still leaves plenty of field space for dog walkers like me, plus all the children have a place to let of steam, better than them hanging around on corners in groups. im sure u'd all agree

instead of building yet more houses, i think ely would benefit from some sort of youth club such as the ones that are at riverside, and docks in cardiff.
They have huge youth club workshops that keep children occupied in the evenings and weekends, with qualified youth workers at hand to help children of all ages.
I would love to see a council run youth venue open on these playing fields aswell as keeping these fields as recreation grounds for the enjoyment of football and other activities.
