Here is the second in a series of commercials for DWI of Cibola County (Grants, New Mexico) in cooperation with NMSU-Grants (New Mexico State University Grants Campus) and Working Boy Productions of Albuquerque, NM. Inspired by the "This is your brain" commercials we use "This is your girlfriend... this is your girlfriend after you drink." We also use a hip version of the famous "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" campaign which is "You Booze, You Cruise, You Lose." This commercials will run on KASA Fox in New Mexico during the 2007-2008 school year with the majority run in April and May when most teen drunk driving accidents tend to happen (due to prom and graduation). We encourage your feedback and if you'd like to have us customize this commercial for your own DWI campaign please contact Doug Bocaz-Larson at dbocaz@nmsu.edu

This was filmed by Poco Loco Productions. We are college video producers at New Mexico State University Grants campus.

All our ad revenue money is given to charity. We support both local and national charities. We have given money to combat hunger, animal abuse and domestic violence.

Here are some of our featured Poco Locos (if you've helped with a video and are not on the list, please let me know):

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DWI
Driving under the influence of alcohol, drunk driving, drinking and driving (North American English), or drink-driving (British/Irish and Australian/New Zealand English), is the act of operating a motor vehicle (and sometimes a bicycle or similar human-powered vehicle) after having consumed alcohol (ethanol) or other drugs, to the degree that mental and motor skills are impaired. It is a crime in most countries around the world. Drunk driving has taken away many lives.
Overview
In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of other drugs, a third "DUI" offense consists of driving under the combined influence of alcohol and other drugs. The drugs causing or contributing to the impairment need not be illegal, but can consist of lawfully prescribed or over-the-counter medication. Anti-drunk-driving advertising campaigns have aimed to raise awareness of the legal situation and the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Drunk-driving is responsible for a large number of deaths, injuries, damage and accidents every year. In most international jurisdictions, anyone who is convicted of injuring or killing someone while under the influence of alcohol or drugs can be heavily fined, as in France, in addition to being given a lengthy prison sentence.
The specific criminal offense may be called, depending on the jurisdiction, driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while impaired (also DWI), operating while intoxicated (OWI), operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OMVI), driving under the influence [of alcohol or other drugs] (DUI), driving under the combined influence of alcohol and/or other drugs, driving under the influence per se or drunk in charge [of a vehicle].

  • Okay if the #1 DWI doesnt make someone think twice, then this one has too. The body made my stomach turn.

  • @ViennaApple: As the Singapore Traffic Police (STP) put it bluntly: "Drink-driving shatters lives. Get the picture?" Another traffic cop, STP Deputy Superintendent Rachel Soh, in a Crimewatch Singapore special on drunk-driving, added: "Drink-driving is a very serious offence, and the consequences are severe." In some countries, drunk-drivers must retake all tests to be able to drive unsupervised, and at least when death or injury is involved, they should be subject to this penalty.

  • Really effective, being we all have been in those situations to drink or not involving your significant other definitely hits home.

  • I can appreciate the message; powerful & brief. And yet I think it lacks "something" that would help the mind hold on to the image; Perhaps a shock facter (ie. an actual crash or at least the sound of one).

  • TAT NIKKA CANT HANG. lol

  • BAMMMMMM!

Great job man. Kudos to you. I also love your 'Family Friendly' channel promise.

  • excellent message for the public

  • this is a good way to get the message out to the people about drinking and driving. the theme of prom that is also good because that is when real danger comes out. it really is a reality to teenagers.

  • This video was a good relation not to drink and drive. It was filmed in a way that shows u what happens if u drink and drive. I really liked how it was filmed and edited
