@jhezle She knew Marlee already before the show started. They are actually great friends since 1980 or something.. so that's probably the reason why she could sign so well.

@knight7se7en In actual time span, each episode can be anywhere from weeks to months or longer, it just depends on the time frame needed realistically. They film each episode a week at a time, so their characters may seem to progress oddly fast, but one episode may actually pass 4 months in the story line.

I always wondered about something.....how did Bette pick up sign language so fast? One episode I remember her looking at her computer trying to learn and two episodes later she's signing like a pro......I know Bette is super Ivy league intelligent but jeez....
