Further fiddling around with Windows Movie Maker 6.0, and now I'm able to do video outputs of 60fps instead of the choking 30fps the standard choices has. Other than maxxing out the settings in DiRT3, as well as using DirectX 11 instead of forcing it down to DirectX 9, I turned on the PhysX for this game, though it seems very minimal compared to other games. Overall, quite happy with it. Without recording, Fraps showed 60-80fps, with recording, 50-65fps.
EDIT: Then again, since youtube videos don't do anything higher than 30fps, maybe I'll stay with the older, standard settings WMM 6.0 has for the time being.
