@hercmet The idea of judo competition is supposed to be about the spirit of ippon, the single powerful throw that ends a match or fight. Different idea to western wrestling, but not without its beauty, the fact that it can end at any moment from a single technique, is exciting, and scary, though ultimately you should do what suites you best, and you enjoy most.

I don't know what you're smoking, but all 3 were clear ippons.
The first was a decent Ouchi Gari that planted the guy on his back at decent speed. The second was a submission. The third was a perfect counter that planted the opponent straight on his back.
So yeah... couldn't have been an ippon at all.

i like judo training but i am not really looking forward to competition . a lucky throw can end the match in seconds and that doesn't thrill me . in wrestling you throw a guy and then you have to bleed to pin him . i love that.

First attempt fails, second attempt he re-shifted opponents weight to the opposite foot and gets it, i digg the foot work as-well.

I can't believe what they give ippons for these days. This is why judo is falling behind BJJ, people are winning their fights too easily, they don't do groundwork cos nearly any throw will give an ippon, it is sad, they have completely ruined it, neither of those throws was worth an ippon in my opinion especially the first one
