Being able to get past emotional misunderstandings is very valuable indeed. It allows you to avoid personal misunderstands while getting at intellectual discourse. My most highly valued friends are the ones who both have opinions and are willing to share them without such fears. The value of having those around you who are willing to confront you can't be understated. Otherwise, you'd have to do all the thinking yourself.

Glad to see you making videos again. I had wondered what happened to you that week. I almost had to start coming up with my own ideas to think about.
I agree with you entirely. Pretending there is no problem doesn't make the problem go away. One of the things that bug me about modern office environments is how un-confrontational everyone is. I'm not brash, but some issues need to be confronted to allow progress and sceptical thinking.

I am sometimes thought of as confrontational though people admit also that I'm very compromising, realistic, and willing to adopt other people's ideas... but people just won't get to the point if they think there is a remote chance of being misunderstood EMOTIONALLY. blech.
