  • This is really a legendary speech of one great artist. The eloquence, the clarity of the words... So critic and so respectful. Wise man

  • I hope that someday a conductor finds it necessary to explain collaboration with me.

  • You have to love Lenny B

  • No counterpoint in Stravinsky? Middle movement of symphony of psalms comes immediately to mind. As for the photo when did these three lions come together?

  • Despite his faults, Bernstein proves here his professional, even diplomatic side.

How we need more like him today!

  • @msdawg2

It was light hearted and humourous! Where's your sense of humour?

  • @Dan474834

He was very open minded, which is always the way forward

  • @tlagudtjq That would explain the striking resemblence then

  • I would like to dedicate my listening of this speech to critics who not only refuse to enjoy what is good about a performance, but who insist that those who create and enjoy such an interpretation are somehow offending the work itself. I hope, though I'm sure vainly, that seeing one great artist deferring to another great artist might humble such critics --or if not humble, at least they might lighten up.

  • @AbuseDaForce Yes, He is Stravinsky.

  • guy on the right looks a bit like Stravinsky

  • Bernstein was a great conductor, but for him to comment at length at someone else's interpertation is hypocrisy. Some of his interpertations are some of the most disputed and most outrageous.
