Here is the 823 running a few minutes late *(arrived at 5:16PM vs 5:14PM) making a screeching halt in Palos Park coming from Palos Heights. You don't see it in the video but there were ALOT of people on the train tonight. The train was stopped for a good 2 Minutes! It's only common during the morning and afternoon rush to see 2 locos! A 'rare sight' on the Southwest Service indeed!

Anyways, hope you all like it!

  • r" (Train with two engines) isn't that rare.

  • @nbc5newsHD At the time of day that I shot it, (see the time table for the Southwest Service) it was due to the trains usually being really light in terms of weight. Especially when they are on their way back from Chicago to Manhattan in the early afternoon. But yes, I know they are not rare on other major lines. I'm really impressed with all the detail about this. I would have never known! Thanks for the comment and the very detailed explanation.

  • cool

  • Thanks again!

  • OUTSTANDING JOB! 707 Productions.

I really enjoy watching Metra Southwest Trains.

  • Thanks for the great comment. Just got into the biz of Train Spotting. Soon I will offer shots form Worth and Palos Heights too along with the bridges over the railroads. Stay tuned for more vids!

  • This is the 4:30 departure out of downtown Chicago. This train "set" (Engines and cars) are stored in the 179th Street yard overnight I believe. And are used on inbound trains 808 (6:49 am from 179th), 8:30 (2:35pm from Manhattan), 836 (5:44 from 153rd) and 840 (8:25 from 179th). This set is used on outbound trains 815 (12:35 to Manhattan), 823 (The 4:30 to 153rd seen in this video), 833 (6:58 to 179th) and 839 (9:50 to 179th). As you can see this train does a lot of work, and this "double heade
