@bigpaul1980 Most songs usually come from another song. Not as much today as in the 70's and before, but it's still quite common. I bet close to 80-90% of songs from them eras were taken from another song. They would hear and older song they liked (usually folk in those times) and put a rhythm to it or add to the rhythm and add some lyrics to it and make a new song out of it. Bob Dylan did this a lot, and did a very, very good job of it. You can Alan Lomax for a lot of the music thats been made.
