Georgia arrests four Russian peacekeepers in conflict zone

Russia says Georgia has detained four Russian peacekeepers and a military truck in the conflict zone between Georgia and its breakaway region of Abkhazia.
Russian Itar-Tass News Agency confirmed the detainment of four troops from the Collective Peacekeeping Force and a vehicle with munitions on Tuesday.

But Georgia accuses the peacekeepers of transporting ammunition and shells without coordination with the Caucasus states in the conflict region.

Relations between Russia and Georgia are strained because of Georgia's bid to join NATO, and Russia's alleged support of the breakaway regions.

As a Georgian, I can say that never ever again Geoegia will join Russia, and there is difference beetween keeping a course to west and to join some country. Untill Russia not recognize our international border, there will not be any relationship between us.

Interests of US, EU and Georgia right now are the same, that's exactly why they are supporting Georgia, but not becouse we look nice

  • @kiladze22 As an American, I can say that Georgia will never be able to depend on the west. They are on their own. They had best learn to play nice with Russia, or become part of Russia agian.
