The result of a short string of Christmas lights. 35 Led String 2.4 watts and a Pen case from a previous present that I recycled. In a power outage a 12 battery from a car and an inverter (75 watt) will run hours with no problems and as you see enough light to do the needed things. more updates to come as I figure out a way to use it for all the lighting needs of my place. Advantages are Low power consumption and no mercury unlike florescent. Yes I know I need to clean my lavatory off.

  • I did the same exact thing. I got about 12 strands for 75% off at walmart, cut the LED's off, and soldered them onto a circuit board. I put that assembly in a nice wood enclosure with a glass front, and mounted them throughout my house. They run on 12 volts from my solar system and they are my only source of light.

Oh, and it was cheap! each LED ended up costing me about $.05, and I'll sell all of the copper in the wires at the scrap yard. They usually give me about $3.00 per lb of copper.
