before you took it off, i couldnt tell which one was fake

@xsoldierx1x I was camping with friends and I was floating on the lake while a friend was hitting golf balls into the water. He sliced one and I didn't see it coming. Missed every bone and struck my eye straight on.

Hey dude just watched your video looks good, regarding you comment about the shelf life of 3-7 years this can vary vastly I have had mine for 21 years now.

@MegaTayTay2001 no you cant see with them lol

Can you see out of the prosthetic eye?
First off . Thank you for the video
2nd my son he's 2 yrs and 9 months will be getting his removed (enucleation ) within the next few days due to cancer. He will have just his left eye to work with.
Questions ; how hard was it to get used to it?
Did it itch all the time? Is there anything you recommended for us to do to make him not rip it out every 10 seconds ?
Thank you an god bless

@down4thaSS Wow. That's an intense situation. It's difficult to get used to, but mostly from a mental standpoint. The ichiness and 'mild' discomfort is the only physical difficulty i think. If I knew I was going to lose an eye, I'd choose earlier in life rather than mid life. A child can develop depth perception much better than a person who loses an eye later in life.
Your son will be stronger because of it, like I am. Get him in good habits, and he'll leave his eye alone.

A few questions:
You mentioned itching. You mean normal itches, or is it some sort of reaction to the prosthetic eye, like an allergic reaction? Do you at all get used to wearing it, so that you really dont think about it? And how does it affect your everyday life, can you drive? Do you accidently knock over things cause the lack of depth perspective? Did the golfball only damage the eye, or did the socket also break?
I'm sorry you lost your eye. That had to be a hell of a shock.

@BlueZipher Just normal itchiness - no allergies or anything. I haven't been able to get used to wearing it, I think about it most hours of every day still. I can still drive fine, and my road vision is actually pretty good still. But I do knock stuff over a lot - not just because of depth perception, but a lot of things on my left side I just don't see.

@supersnake1599 yeah it turns a little bit. I can't tell in a mirror (obviously), because when I pan around, I can't focus on my prosthetic. @arul3151990mon I imagine it's like 5 or 6/10 on the movement scale. I WISH it was better.

glad you are doing better now, where did you get the eye made, what state?
molly122ful 2 months ago
@molly122ful My eye was made in Victoria, BC, Canada. My ocularist (the woman who 'builds' eyes), painted it by hand, and customized it by taking a mold of my eye socket. She tried a few times to get the color right - she didn't take a picture or anything... and it looked and felt good with her third attempt.
