i have this record, just found it in my collection.

Jo soars when ever she sings, her voice and phrasing are impeccable, and her husband Paul Weston had the perfect orchestra to back her, it is interesting to note that she sings the harmony line at the end of Stardust which comes from her expertise with the Pied Pipers at the start of her career, thank you Jo for giving us all those great songs.

Mmm, the Rainbow Room, gardenias in my hair, gliding across the dance floor in the arms of my darling. Jo's romantic version of this classic takes me there.

my favorite version of stardust. jo had her very own style combined with her amazing technical skills!

I thought I knew just HOW GOOD Jo Stafford was. Then I heard "Haunted Heart." How someone could so effortlessly, and without ANY vocal calisthentics, give so much emotion to a song, I'll never know. Definitely THE most underrated pop voice ever. Good God what power and control.

I agree! And Jo Stafford had such a golden voice :)
(Though she's no Jo Stafford, the British singer Adele has a truly lovely, rich voice. She's a current singer whom you might enjoy)

Magnificant !

Midcentury esctasy. She sums up so many moods in that dreamy voice I'm tempted to think the dream is real.
Hearing this song again makes me remember a time when America was as lovely as the song. Jo Stafford and Rosemary Clooney were the queens of this era. Though they aren't with us anymore, their magical, sweet voices keep them alive. And for that I will be eternally grateful!! Sing on girls.....We're still listening....

There is nothing like this in the present era. I can not understand why many can not aspire to this singer's greatness. Today is is all very, very loud and crude and there is no attentiopn to real art!
