Divided over minarets

The Swiss will vote on November 29 whether to ban the building of any new minarets in Switzerland. The Stop Minarets movement is backed by the rightwing Swiss People's Party, but opposed by the government and the Council of Religions. "A few years ago...", 39 years ago to be precise... well ok, that is a stain on the Swiss democracy... But otherwise it sure is outstanding and unique in the world!

And of course people can make wiser and less wise decisions...

The last vote certainly had several reasons...

Minarets will impose sharia law? How old is this guy? sounds like something a child would say. There is a huge percentage of Christian Arabs in the middle east and if you saw the churches you would laugh at the churches in Europe. I suggest the Swiss to visit Islamic country to learn more. Also Minarets are not in Sharia law because its not obligatory. They started to build them so Muslims would find the mosques and stop entering churches by mistake. Read more, you are a MP for Christ' sake.

better to live in a country where majority opinion is visible through policy than otherwise. If muslims are living in a country where the majority of people aren't entirely comfortable with islam, then it's best that they and everyone else know the score. unexpressed undercurrents of social disharmony are best vented than left to explode.

@blaqsoldier I have traveled through 54 countries and love the diversity in the world. I do not want it to be all one way. I don't want burkas in France or Bikini's in Arabia, it would ruin both places. I am not bothered by poverty if the people are poor, but healthy and happy as in the Philippines. What is in Indonesia is something else altogether. It is life gone wrong. People are sick and puss flows from their eyes and open sores on their bodies. Let's leave Switzerland as it is.
