I have several SAA pistols from various makers and have yet to shoot the STI. Now I might have to look at expanding the stable a bit. Thanks for the review!

@skaterock7734: ah, it may not jam, but it can still misfire. the ammunition is the biggest issue when it comes to those, not the gun.

This is the first time I've ever wanted an STI.

What loads were you shooting in the Texican?

From the article:
"I fired the Texican with a load that uses the excellent Mt. Baldy 270-SAA bullet, which is a modified Keith-style that weighs about 285 grains lubed, and was designed to fit the cylinder of a Single Action Army revolver. I push this bullet to around 900 feet per second, and it is a good working load for a single action revolver."

I have a question jeff. I have a Ruger Black hawk converted to a 4 5/8" Bisley. I have a 7 1/2" Ruger Bisley, and two USFA single actions. The USFA are the best SA revolvers I have ever seen. They have completely perfected the Colt (mismatched chambers etc) junk that out there. I didnt even know that STI made a SA. before I go and run to buy one.....Does it rank up there with the USFA offerings? Thanks much

I have experience with only one of the STI guns, so am no expert. However, it was perfect. Also, the Colt Single Action Army being currently built is as good as any they have ever produced, and as good as the USFA.

@Gunblastdotcon You think the new colt sas are better quality than they once were?that would be a great surpise. TY for the insight

Absolutely. The latest Colts are as good as anything they ever produced, and priced right. You can buy a new one at retail in the $1150 range. The Colt name will also hold that value very well. In fact, in real money, they are as cheap now as they have ever been. 120 years ago, a fifty-dollar gold Double Eagle would buy a brand new Colt SAA. Today, that same fifty-dollar gold coin will get you the new Colt, and you will get back a little change.
