November 28th, 1959. A ferry is launched, the second vessel of a class of two; the first built in Victoria, British Columbia, this one built in Vancouver, British Columbia. The ferry was christened MV Tsawwassen. With her sister ship, MV Sidney they established the British Columbia Ferry Authority, beginning service on June 15th, 1960. For nearly 50 years, she was a vital link for residents on the British Columbia south coast. After 48 years and three months of distinguished service, she was retired from active service on September 14th, 2008 and decommissioned from the BC Ferries fleet September 27th, 2008.
One day before she retired, a group of Ferry enthusiasts, armed with cameras and recording devices came to Jervis Inlet on the Sunshine Coast to board the Queen of Tsawwassen one last time before her retirement. This is Part 1 of the footage I captured from those last sailings.

  • I really enjoyed these 2 videos. The old girl was the first ferry I took on arriving in BC in 1974, this almost brought a tear. She was in remarkable shape for a last sailing. Good cinematography and choice of music. Inserting a few stills during construction might have been an added bonus, and a full passenger complement would have completed this, she seems so empty. I'd never seen the engine room either. A worthy effort, much appreciated; thank you kindly.

  • @cs16productions ya it looked like it because i go to it alot
