feel nice to see,
please i requested u to dowload trainig videoes of this program,
Thanks

ahhhh, got it. thanks!

@oxenpaul the rectangle tool doesn't align with section planes, it only aligns with axes planes ... On the contrary the circle tool aligns with any plane

NEAT. I'll give it a go . (('m guessing I could use a rectangle to do the same job? I'm off to experiment. Thanks GuzzmanTiemo

@oxenpaul You can draw a big circle on the section plane (using the circle tool and letting it align over the section plane). After you draw the circle you wont see it 'cause it gets cut by the section plane.
then you remove the section plane (just delete it) and you're left with the cone and a big circle shape intersecting it. Now select the circle and by rightclicking it choose "intersect with model", this will give you the intersection you're looking for.

I'm still trying to figure out how to join the lines and make that parabolic area in to a shape I can push and pull into something..
-
@oxenpaul Yes, I agree, that's the way to obtain a parabola.
Sorry to point it out but after 3:36 there's a huge math error.
You have an ellipse and you say "click a point anywhere and move the mouse [and the section plane] until the section plane is entirely within the cone. This 2D object is a parabola".
NO: that's another ellipse (part of an ellipse but still an ellipse).
To obtain a parabola the section plane must be parallel to a generatrix of the cone. (a generatrix is any straight line that belongs to the cone).
