British Columbia Elk Hunt Sept 2009. We road 5 to 8 hours a day on horses and hiked some of the toughest terrain I have ever seen. We had numerous encounters but given the unusual heat and animal point restrictions we were challenged to find shooters. It was gorgeous country and amazing to be back in the mountains. Most of the Elk we saw were above tree line protected by a mile of congested alders and old timbers. The best way to hunt this area would be by helicopter.

  • Great country up in BC. I will remember my trip there forever. Time spent with family is what it's all about. Thank you for sharing the video of your hunt.

  • It makes me feel better for others to appreciate the experience. I was committed to finding my father a mature animal and better to have it on film. But in hind sight, this was minor in comparison to sharing time. For the sake of those who take the time to see the clip, appreciate we worked very hard to come back empty handed. I have a fried who wrote a hunting book called "The Joy of Misery", now I understand what he meant. Keep hunting!

  • @markt308 TRUE THAT hunting is about seeing nature conserving nature and bonding with ur hunting partner whether that be ur friend, dad, son or grandpa

  • Very Cool country. I always tell people it's not just about shooting animals! Hunting is much more than that. A huge part of it is getting away and spending quality time with great people in the outdoors.

  • Hey there, I'm from BC and have been hunting my whole life. I'm really happy to see that you and your dad are ethical and intelligent hunters. I get really disgusted with some of the people I meet out in the woods, as well as some of the videos on youtube. I'm glad you had a great experience and can still take home the feeling of success after fruitless hunt. It's all about the memories of friends and family as well as the environment. Cheers!

  • ya thats actually back end of iron creek.

  • cuz that dose not look like griz basin

  • hey i live in bc man is that at the bull river

  • Awesome country and great video.

I know first hand how tough it is to hike the Kootenays...very nice work guys and a wonderful experience each and every time!

Loved your footage and with the 4pt or better Muley and 6pt or better Elk it can be difficult for sure.

Glad to hear you came out of it with a positive attitude and you will always remember many great times from these hunts.

So cool you got to share it with your Dad.

    Wish I did.

Congrats on a successful hunt without a harvest.
