Glenn Shadix is an actor made famous by roles in movies such as Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and the 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes. His television work includes the HBO drama Carnivàle, and the NBC television comedy Seinfeld, in which he played Jerry's landlord.

What many people do not know, however, is that Shadix had undergone shock therapy as a teenager in Alabama, in an attempt to turn from gay-to-straight.

The "cure" did not work and today Shadix lives as a proud openly gay man. Having lived in New York City and Hollywood, he recently returned to Alabama.

Truth Wins Out applauds Shadix for his willingness to share his experience and help other people avoid the pain and suffering of the ex-gay industry.

  • RIP Glenn. =-[

  • wow! that's a very touching story. I would really love to see the documentary when it's completed.

it would also be interesting to hear from those who have a problem with homosexuals, dig deep, and really find where the fear and hatred comes from and how it gets so ingrained into people.

    Good luck with the film!

  • He's deceased and was from Alabama. I did not know that. The things I learn every day.

  • I miss him as a chubby..

  • I'm 54 years old. I knew Glen when I was 6. I was best friends with his sister Susan. He was the worst! He tormented us as only an older brother can. Years later I was in LA on a layover , he came to my hotel and took me out ofr the night. I will alway rember him as a great guy, and the young boy who make my life and Susan"s hell. But I still love him and his mother Ann who was my moters best friend.

  • i dont believe that there is an "Ex-Gay" if you like the same sex as you or the opposite or both in the begining of your life ,, well then thats who you are ! of course you'd want to be straight to satisfy your family so you wouldnt be reject etc. but forget them you only live one life and you should do whatever you want to do !

  • Gay pride bitches:)

  • @dollors1 That would make you bi

  • Therapy makes people gay.

  • Poor guy. I thought he was (and still do think he is) hot...and I'm a lady.

  • He lost a lot of weight. Loved this guy in Beetlejuice and Demolition Man. Sucks he died.

  • Teaching people to hate themselves is not therapy. To the so called religous people saying you love someone while tourturing them is sick and has nothing to do with god.
