Canon quartet from the finale of act II

Fiordiligi: Miah Persson
Ferrando: Topi Lehtipuu
Dorabella: Anke Vondung
Guglielmo: Luca Pisaroni

Poor short-changed Guglielmo - Pisaroni deserves an Oscar for this scene alone, wishing the girls would drink poison.

From the 2006 Glyndebourne DVD available from Opus Arte - buy it!

  • This glorious music floats into the senses and is so other-worldly it is breathtaking. This DVD with this music, beautiful performers is an absolute MUST to have. Bravo !

  • After having tried my best to wear out the DVD, I just bought the Blu-ray of this production. It's obviously even better than the DVD :)

  • is this the end?

  • Not quite - the big reveal hasn't happened yet :)

  • I think that probably Mozart would have loved to see and hear his Cosi in Glyndebourne 2006.

    Unbeatable !!!

  • I really like the way Pisaroni sings his part here. Many times the Guglielmo really spits out his phrases with too much venom here and to my ears disrupts the music. Here he blends with the music very nicely but still makes his feelings quite clear... :-P

  • Another vulgar deconstruction of a great opera. Fiordiligi is resisting to the end, why make her an air-head? How distasteful these modern distortions are.

  • for me, this quartet contains the most moving fiteen seconds in the 4 Mozart's chef d'oeuvre= 1:32-1:57 Gugliemo (apart) thinks the contrary of what they all sing. Happy to find you back but I cant forget your betrayal. This is the hidden meaning of all the work : just like in real life, we love but we cant forget, but as we love we go on, hoping that we will forget. Thanks fuzzcerts. Nora

  • Excellents chanteurs doublés d'excellents comédiens, aussi agréables à regarder qu'à écouter, Mozart et Da Ponte se régalent certainement autant que nous !

    Bravo à tous !

  • the musical master of the "feeling intellect" Mozart; unparalleled genius of the heart and soul; God s gift in this chaotic existence!

  • @FuzzyCerts Would you - or anyone else - happen to know why two "Cosi" scores I looked at didn't appear to have this quartet? Is this quartet generally not used? I did see a production of "Cosi" late last year and I don't think this quartet was included either (!).

  • absolute proof of God s existence and love for us -the complexity and simplicity of the human predicament-as only the genius of Mozart can portray! Eternal grace

  • listen carefully on 1:38 : Heaven is suddenly deceptive ! This is the heart of WAM speaking. well done fuzzycerts

  • You don't have to but it does help if you have a brief synopsis of the story. Or,if you have time, learn Italian and German.

  • Don´t know much about opera, but this is SUPER. I want more.
