Plenty of people have experimented w/ video feedback. I like to think that I did a few things somewhat different w/ it. The version of "Brain Waves Goodbye" presented here is an 8:00 distillation of the 31:19 8 part version that was a distillation of a 2 hr + tape of experiments simply called "FEEDBACK". One of the things that makes this distinct is the use of techniques such as this: the projection of a slide of the 3D tattoo of a brain on my head that's been prepared w/ multiple layers of clear tape; this slide has a polaroid filter before it in the slide projector AND after it; the polaroid filter AFTER IT is revolving in a mechanical device; the result of this is that the different layers of tape preparation change color as the filter revolves; this mutating color slide is projected onto the face of the tv set that the video camera is aimed at; this tv has an ovoid pice of paper taped to it that corresponds to the shape of my head in the slide. In other sections, the molded plastic form from a Blabbermouth Radio package is attached to the tv & a circular Fresnel lens is moved over that. In 2 of the original 8 parts, I override the audio feedback w/ an alto sax - 1st using the whole sax, 2nd just using the mouthpiece. For this YouTube version, I added 3 relevant slides of my brain tattoo & made some other slight manipulations. - January 2, 2010 notes from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
