I am an Adult with Asperger's Syndrome and a parent of a child with Autism... I completely agree with you! I couldn't stand watching the video of Michael Savage. At first I was angry, and then I felt emabarassed for him because of his ignorance. I have made it my purpose in life to teach Acceptance Not Cure when it comes to Autism... it's people who think like Michael Savage that make our lives harder than they already are.

I'm an aspie and I totally agree with you. I don't "throw fits" and my mother would classify me as the best behaved when I was I child not a "Brat." I actually DON'T want money because I have autism. There ARE biochemical differences in people with autism in the brian visable on a MRI and a genetic link discovered.

Honestly, Fred Savage convinced me that he is a very troubled individual with some serious daddy issues. The only message I heard during that whole rant was "Daddy, why did you never love me?"

My brother didnt came outside anymore for 3-4 years.Cause of his pain and struggle in whole his life he became autistic by it.He cryed for weeks and screamed life aint fair.Autism most bad ass sickness out there if u ask me.Specialy to my brother he cant reconize hiself anymore he doesnt know who he is.Its like his mind exploded i never saw him like this.

@NervousCricket i have aspergers and so do my three kids i dont belive they should have to conform to everyones way of thinking they should be able to be who they are and not have to hide it. I did it for years but now you either take me as i am or not at all and i have taught my children the same way except i have been teaching them tolererance for other peoples ignorance. No matter who you are you are you and have the right to be yourself :)

I think the biggest problem about Savage is the words he chose when discussing about autism. If he was trying to say that some children diagnosed with autism don't actually have it, he should have made that clear from the start. Instead he tries to grab people's attention with insensitive words. Sure the numbers of children with autism are rising and the possibility of children being misdiagnosed are there but that doesn't mean non-autistics have to be so heavily addressed first.
