@princessofgod53 The movie was set in 1937-1938. WWII did not begin until September 1st, 1939, when the Germans fired their guns upon Poland.

My grandma is from Austria I wish we were like the Von Trapp family(except the part about fleeing they're home country)

I know the movie was done in 1965. I was 12 when it came out, BUT it was supposed to be set during WWII!!
