cancellation of the hydraulic tensioner. Why???

The engine is mounted in a way that makes me think this car is rear wheel drive, is that the case?, or is it that VW mounts the engine like that for all wheel drive versions?. Anyways I plan on changing the water/coolant pump as well as the timing belt but my car has a 1.9L SDI engine and is mounted in the other direction. From what you show here it looks like I will be breaking a few knuckles for this job. Am I right?

Hi. Thank you for your post! Is thermostat burried somewhere next to water pump or should i try to find it by following the lower radiator hose? Thank you.

Hi i have a VW golf Mk4 Ive always wondered how to do a cambelt change, Im no mechanic but i love to know the details and eventually do it myself one day! but im asking do you have to take the whole front of the car off when replacing a cambelt? Cheers
