I don't think so. He was practically parallel to the ground, still on his way down, when the ball popped out. As andy112382 points out, it was the second huge non-call by the refs so it probably evens out in the end.

The bad call wasnt that his knee hit they showed a replay and it was clearly a fumble the bad call was that they said forward progress was stopped which it wasnt but once forward progress is stopped then the runner is down but anyway we got screwed big time
