What if we stopped fighting cattle ranches here at home so that we didn't have to import beef at all? The push to close farms and ranches in this country is only pushing them overseas. Just like with logging. The international market is still there. If we don't supply it, it will come from other countries where there are no environmental controls at all.

I think it is the time for us to care about this kind of problem. It is nothing to do with "party." I do think that if the rainforests are destroyed, that will be a terrible problem that cannot be solved.

Republicans also advocate a non-aggressive military. Look where the Bush administration got us. It's a fair question to either party, as the government, that's either(or any if anyone counts independent) party, cannot stay completely out of anything; and the world's rain forests really are in danger.
