ultraguitar

A guitar that plays itself though ultrasound. A guitar that plays by a violin, another guitar, a honey bee, or a midi player.

This my final project for MAS 836 at MIT Media Lab. I came of with the question about "how do we play a music instrument that we are not familiar with?" The solution is, to play it with something we are familiar with!

I used AM ultrasonic signal to transmit the pick up signal of an electric guitar and use the line of sight ultrasonic wave to control multiple instrument. Also, by playing with the receiver demodulation filter, we can create chord, distortion, and other crazy sounds.
