This event was a tribute in 1995 to Mikis Theodorakis.
It took place in the ancient Herod Atticus theatre just below the Acropolis.
The two Greek bouzouki players were joined by the Dutch Metropole Orchestra conducted by Dick Bakker. What a dish he is and how he seemed to enjoy the occasion.

Lyrics correction: So countless are the miseries NOT
So countless are my miseries .

Mikis wrote the music for the film "Συνοικία το όνειρο " translated as "Neighbourhood of Dreams". In the film it was sung by Grigoris Bithikotsis. The short dance sequence is taken from that 1961 film. The man at the table was the director and leading actor Alekos Alexandrakis.

  • Zeena,

this is masterpiece. The two Greek bouzouki players were playing during the concert in 1974. If you check the same song sang by Antonnis Kaloyannis.

    Thank you much

    Drago

  • A wonderful stage and setting, if you've ever been there - and who better to grace it than George Dalaras! Did you see him smiling across at Mikis at 4:29 ? How well they complimented each other musically.

  • Greece might not have the strongest army, definitely doesn't have the strongest economy

    but there's no question that..

It has the BEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD!

  • it's "so countless are the miseries" not "so countless are my miseries"

(The writer mourns the slum not himself)

how can we fix this mistake?

  • πώς θα γίνει να διορθώσουμε το "so countless are my miseries"?
