No. Dog personalities are as varied as humans', and usually aggression comes from poor rearing, not a breed's traits.
German Shepards are some of the smartest dogs out there and are an awesome pet choice, but maybe your family would be happier with a mutt?
They're cheaper, and generally have less health problems than pure breds. Unless you're showing dogs, there's really no point to going to a breeder when there are sweethearts waiting in pounds/shelters for homes.

My German Shep Amber only likes one other dog in the whole world, a boxer named Yang, who is my bro's friend's dog :)

So funny, we own a German for the last five years, and our English Bulldog died about two years ago, so for a while there we had the exact opposite of you, old Eng Bulldog, German Shep pup. Both are actually very smart dogs.

"I DON'T WANT THE BALL - I WANT YOU!!".

Lol Li'l Cookie is more interested in Melanie than in the ball they are cute^^
Melanie, the German Shepherd is a rescue. We think she's seven years old. She's been with us since April of 2007. She taught herself to play ball.
