I've owned this tv for many years you can't go wrong for $25 bucks although it is a heavy beast at just over a hundred pounds. Sadly my kids have completely destroyed the my tv cosmetically but it still works well though.

Picked up one today myself, can't believe how much better it is than my old CRT. Got it on sale for $15, mine has a few scratches though.

@TheBladeJunker Sony did change it to Wega after the early public called it that. It was a poor font choice on sony's part lol
-
@thomas3120 Short answer is no. The reason the switch is there is because of the introduction of digital video. A lot of stuff filmed in Europe for North America was shot with PAL cameras and when they edited it down the phase was reversed resulting in a shuddering comb effect. (kinda like when you film a CRT with a camera and you get the lines through the screen. Because of the different frame rates.)The switch reverses the phase so if you have an early movie that judders it's fixed

That is one sweet TV Thomas, you can't go wrong with Sony at all. = )

Niccccceeeeee!!

If I'm not mistaken all Sony Trinitrons CRTs with grey/silver cases were "WEGA". Standard Trinitrons came in black.

I know what you mean, I wish the camera could pickup how nice the Trinitron picture quality is to the naked eye. Great deal, I got mine for free but its not nearly as mint as yours (No remote or front control panel T_T ). New label looks great and RGB so sweet. Its hard to say whether its Vega or Wega since the logo does have a shadow but if you Google it Wega is the name to use for actual results. Cool pickups. :)
I managed a sony store for 5 years and I can safely say its a vega it has the vega engine which processes the reds the best out of any crt and provide the sharpest picture. The best sony tvs are XBR.

@nogrules Hey NoG, thanks for the reply. The TV I have is NTSC but looking in the service menu it has options for PAL and NTSC (Axis PAL or Axis NTSC) selected by 0 or 1. Do you happen to know if switching to Axis PAL = 1 will make the TV operate in PAL mode?

I would say Sony made some of the best crt tv's.
But, Plasma is not a bad choice if you can only have one tv in your room like me :).
If, you find a Sony super fine pitch Crt TV you will be in tube delight :).
Also, have a Happy New Year :) !!!!!!!!!!

Sure they'll love it :) Try Zelda Twilight Princess, if they like a good role playing game.
