Southern PPC raptor short field take off trial from farm 50ft x 80ft, no room for error no wind, expected a longer run but wow she went straight up from 20ft, well built frame by Aerostar, good 6061T6 cage protection hence no fear even if run into the fence, strong, safe and practical very stable in the air the best I have flown.

  • a little bit of flare and full gas, back off flare when cells are fully open. note risers are above thrust angle on this machine demostrating good design hence response lot quicker. Manufacturers now realizing this critical function to avoid chute lock out and oscillation.

  • Lotta Headwind!

  • initial wind reading prior to set up was 2-3mph, as soon as it was zero on w/meter was signaled to go. check back ground no movement in branches. If lotta head wind would have left the ground in 5-10ft with more than 900ft/min climb in almost zero forward momentem.

  • this test, absolutely zero head wind, air temp 20degC, 150ft below sea level, rotax 582, full power.

  • If there were no wind, the camera wouldn't be picking up so much noise and the tall grass wouldn't be blowing!

  • So what technique were you using to get it up so fast? Were you flaring right away?

  • nice. pretty good headwind
