  • Please stop telling people to put saran wrap on a tattoo.. saran wrap is NOT sterile and it should not be applied to tattoos or any open skin.. it's a petrie dish for bacteria causes pooling of plasma.. this isnt the normal healing process.. please have your EXPERTS keep up to date on standard precautions in tattooing. you are misinforming people who may or may not know any better.

  • Trissabelle I couldn't agree with you more. Do more research people. I found a number of experts that stated not to ever use saran wrap. It's the perfect breeding grounds for bacteria. What happens is blood will leak down to the bottom (gravity) of the saran wrap and just collect there. The saran wrap captures heat, doesn't allow the tattoo to breath, and blood collects at the bottom. Bacteria heaven. Bad news. DON'T DO IT!

  • Idiot.

  • also, i have worked in a tattoo shop for my whole life, because my mom owns a pro shop. 15 years there. i totally know.

  • saran wrap after a tattoo is horrible, you talk about sufficating it, and that's exactly what saran wrap will do. all the wrap will do is lock in any bacteria that may be forming, and keep it mosit. you want to use lotion on it, but not let it be soaked in anything. after you get home and wash it off, do not put anything more than a clean cotton tshirt over it. and moisturize 2-3 times daily until healed.
