World War II weaponry from stock footages during Operation Market Garden. These weapons were used during that battle in September 1944.

  • @stuka52 Germany attempted to field a Universal or General purpose MG. The German MG gunner would try to carry the 25 lb MG-42 as a light MG, use the 1200+ rpm rate of fire to extend the range while firing from a tripod, and try to keep the gun fed with ammunition as a medium MG. By contrast the US used the 14 pound BAR as a light MG, the 500 rpm .30 browning as a medium, and the M-2 .50 cal browning as long range heavy. If you had the right US MG on hand, it was superior, "If..."

  • If I'm not mistaken the MG42 was considered a light machine gun when carried or bipod and heavy when installed in the tripod. (I'm not trying to be a dick or anything).
