In 1995, I was taking a Theater Directing class at Northern Kentucky University (minor in Theater) with professor Sam Zachary. One of the class projects was to direct a scene taken from a play of our choice. I decided to try "interactive theater," namely Tony n' Tina's Wedding, a play I had never seen before. This scene was what resulted from a truncated version of the play, taking place only at the "reception."
I played the DJ (the play used a live band), and as DJ (and director), my role was to make announcements, play music, and try to keep the action going. Overall, the scene worked out really well and the actors--all students I knew--did a great job bringing it all together.
The actual scene was almost two minutes longer than this clip; I had to trim out a few slow spots to fit it into youtube's timeframe.
We videotaped the performance, and I've been sitting on this tape since 1995 and have finally decided to share it with the world, and maybe some of the participants will enjoy it, or anyone who witnessed it.
The cast: I don't remember most of the characters, but I can remember the actors's names, most of them, anyway.
Tony: Ken Durbin
Tina: Carrie Klein (I think that was her name)
Helen Jo Luther (wearing pregnant pillow)
Ryan Greis (khaki pants, blue shirt)
Adam Turcotte (wearing white t shirt)
Chris Beiting, photographer. He took dozens of pictures at rehearsals and during the scene, all of which I still have.
Michael McGraw (unseen) on video camera
David Vidovich (bartender). He wasn't part of the cast, he agreed at the last minute to play bartender. Thanks, Vid!
The food, fried chicken, was all donated by Kroger, where I worked. They also donated the "fake champagne, which was sparkling cider. Carrie managed to drink an entire bottle during the scene. She was supposed to be getting drunk, and acted the part well.
Funny thing. I was JUST talking about this to my wife the other day... wow.
