Maurizio Pollini, with the Belgrade Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta, plays the first movement of Chopin's Piano Concerto 2 live at the 1968 Dubrovnik summer festival. I have cut the orchestral introduction so the whole movement can fit on Youtube.
yes, that´s true...I´m not a real fan of Pollini actually...but what I admire most about a Chopin player is not being "affected" by the music...just making music, but in a way Chopin would have wanted to...with the same timing from begining to end (maybe with a little rubato, but as Neuhaus said "what has been stolen needs to be given back"), but not like pianists these days, who use too much rubato...and hardly ever there are two bars at the same tempo
ideal interpretation!!!

Every note crystal clear. But, where is the poetry?

I think that interpreting music is a way of looking for a truth, the composer´s true intentions, and then transmite it to the audience...

well, god, nico. What else is music there for if not to "affect" people?
