Dean Playground
Dean Street near 6th Avenue
Prospect Heights
Brooklyn, New York
November 23, 2010
On the day this time lapse was shot, Forest City Ratner announced that steel was erected at the Barclays Center arena site, which is in the background to the left (a crane on the site is visible behind the Dean Street homes).
The arena will eventually rise to several times the height of the buildings on the left. The planned residential towers of Atlantic Yards would be many times the height of the arena and would dwarf the neighboring low-rise homes. The three small homes at the left end of the row of houses would be demolished for one of the towers.
Dean Street runs left to right (west to east) at the edge of the playground, and 6th Avenue is to the left (west) just out of the frame. The southeastern corner of the 18,000-seat arena would be at the intersection of Dean and 6th
