A videoblog of my progress to return to fighting trim, for the SCA war season.

This is the fourth practice in a row, and my first time fighting florentine (two-weapons, in this case sword and axe). Endurance appears to be improving.

  • That opening shot is FLAT! Stop doing that, Krenn!! -Sir Vitus

  • Duly noted - I have wrist flexibility problems that make it a bit hard to get the sword properly positioned on the first shot, but I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!

  • One word of advice i might offer. With how you hold your shield and sword your leaving your forearm wide open for a shot. Im guessing you dont have many lefties in your area? This is not meant to dog you in anyway, as you are already improving greatly from your first video. Just offereing what advice i can to help

  • We do have a few - I change my stance quite a bit when I face them. The advice is appreciated, though!

  • I dont know you, but i have watched all the videos you have posted. I can see your getting better already, and wish you luck on the journey

  • Thanks, I appreciate the support! It certainly seems to be helping with the motivational aspect.

  • You guys sound SOOOO midwestern, and it makes me smile. I've been stuck down in georgia for the longest time...

  • change up the angles of your blows...they all seem to be thrown from the same 2 places: 10:00 and 2/3:00. Switch it up, I bet you'll get good results.

  • I remember you telling me about thsis, it's really neat.

  • Maybe you should go to a local group practice, put on the gear and then talk about it not being sport.

Takes me 15 minutes to get in the gear, and 10 minutes to rest before I can start chopping, very athletic activity. I'm only good for MAYBE an hour of full speed combat.

  • Im new to the SCA and heavy fighting, this series has been very helpfull :-) Good luck :-)
