Stand is the first single from King Kapisi's upcoming LP Hip Hop Lives Here, due for release early 2010.
Stand sees the local hip-hop pioneer join forces with international reggae great, Luciano voted by the "Vibe Magazine" as one of the top 10 Jamaican artists of all time. Jamaican flavours are savoured throughout the track, while King Kapisi aka Bill Urale interweaves a calling for all people to take a Stand, united.
Stand takes Kapisi's lyrical depth back to his roots of consciousness. The King wanted the video for Stand to represent and promote a uniquely New Zealand feel. The self-directed/edited video clip was shot in his hometown, Wellington. It features members of Urale's extended Wellington-based family, old school friends, as well as Wellington identities such as Strathmore bred All Blacks and Hurricanes player Ma'a Nonu and the current world Guinness record continuous beat-boxing holder, King Homeboy.
