And the news iPhone frenzy has begun in much of the world. But it all started in New Zealand, where tech enthusiasts lined up for days to get the coveted device. Let's take a look.
STORY:
Some iPhone fans in New Zealand have camped out for days to be among the first in the world to get their hands on the latest version. In a country 12 hours ahead of GMT, Auckland became the first place on the entire planet to offer the new 3G models for sale.
And the first of the fans to snap up the gadget says it's like winning the lottery.
[Jonny Gladeell, iPhone Fan]:
"It hasn't kind of sunk in yet. When I wake up in the morning it'll be slowly coming to reality in the media and everything. Right now all I want to do is go home, have a sit down and play with it and actually get a decent night's sleep. I've only had, I think, about six hours in the last three and a half, three days."
The latest version of the iPhone is said to offer faster web links and supports third-party software like games. It's also being heavily subsidized by many service providers with some even giving it away to lure new subscribers.
Some analysts are predicting a weekend buying frenzy that could see sales of more than a million. That's a far cry from the first iPhone which was only available in six countries and was bought by around 270,000 people.
Other handset makers such as Nokia and LG are plotting their responses with next generation devices.

"who would fucking wait three days for a phone..thats the gayest shit iv ever seen"
Yes.
It's truly impressive how effective Apple's propaganda campaigns have been in convincing people that they need the newest piece of scrap junk...
To have them so completely subservient to artificial desires and manufactured wants that they would camp outside a concrete department store for days to be first in line to pay for overpriced scrap junk...
Awe-Inspiring stuff..
