PLEASE RATE/COMMENT ON THIS! a reson why we think it wont work is because the air intake is 2 far forward so all the fuel is burning in the first half(look at the after photos, shows were the fuel burnt by were the paint has come off)

  • use some other pulse jet diamentions and work out the eqations they use for example the tail pipe is 5 x chamber length and tail pipe width is 1/2 chamber width and intake width is 1.3333 x tail pipe width.

  • yer. i think i know why it didnt work. i had no plans, just based it on what id seen.

  • Go to w w w dot pulse-jets dot com and go to the forum. You might take a look at my videos of the $15 pulsejet I built... it started so easy it startled me.

I'll have to draw it up with my mods. Yours is a form of the Chinese design, but the ratios of sizes are important (acoustics involved) Google Advanced FWE pulseject and go to Eric Beck's site for another good set of plans.

  • thanks, i will see. i had noo plans or dimentions for it, just guesses. probably why.

  • First of all, if you using the small handheld (butane?) torch to supply fuel it probably wont work, not enough gas.

Next the combustion chamber is very long, assuming that it's about 11 inches long you could probably cut at least 4 inches out then weld the end dome back on.

Next extend the intake pipe so that the open end is at approximately 1/3 (one third) of the overall length. Then try to flare the ends of the intake and tailpipe.

    Hope that helps..

  • ok, i have shortened the combustion chamber by 3 inches and extended the air intake by an inch. we have got the spark plug ignition system working and it will run properly without the ignition on. bur it still needs the compressed air. any ideas?

  • the intakes are too narrow.

  • tnx, i will

  • yer, i tryed the spark plug, but it couldent even light the torch, let alone the jet. i had it on very low fuel because if i turned it above a trickle, it would just go out.

  • Ist I'm going to say I don't know!

Have you tried to use the spark plug to ignite the mixture rather than the torch? are you using an unregulated propane supply? The combustion chamber may be too long. I sounds like it wants to run. The tail pipe should have a flare on the end. Try getting the propane to burn in the chamber without the air gun. Increase/decrease the fuel valve to see what it does. Then squirt air into the intake and it may start.
